Tube Worm
Scientific Name: Galeolaria caespitosa
Description: The bodies of Tubeworms are concealed within white, calcified tubes. The tube opening is covered at low tide by a lid which keeps the worm from drying out. These Tubeworms form colonies of many worms, providing shelter to smaller invertebrates between, and around the tubes. At high tide feathery mouthparts emerge from the tubes and are used to strain plankton from the water.
