Green Chiton

Scientific Name: Ischnochiton australis

Description: The Green Chiton is common beneath basalt boulders and move quickly (relatively!) if exposed to light. The individual plates that overlap and make this chiton flexible are often found washed up on beaches in the Marine Sanctuary.

Chiton are grazers and feed on microalgae found on rock surfaces
