Magpie Perch
Scientific Name: Cheilodactylus nigripes
Description: The Magpie Perch is common reef fish in the Marine Sanctuary with two broad black bands on the body and a band on the head through the eye, while juveniles may have a reddish tail.
Magpie Perch feed by sucking up sediment from the bottom and extracting small invertebrates, releasing clouds of sand into the water through their gills.
