Brain Ascidian

Scientific Name: Scyozoa cerebriformis

Description: This is a colonial ascidian which comes in a range of colours including red, pink, orange and blue. In larger specimens, has a highly convoluted shape that looks a little like the lobes of the brain.

Individual zooids have their own inhalant siphon for taking in water and share common exhalant siphons on the thin edge of the colony.
