Scientific Name: Mictyris platycheles
Description: Forming large armies on the sand flats around the Bluff, these bluish scavengers emerge as the tide recedes, actively sifting through the sand for food particles. When disturbed all the crabs quickly burrow under the surface, corkscrewing into an instantly made shallow cavity in the sand. They walk forward instead of sideways like other crabs.
Type: Crustaceans (Decapods)
Where to find: Mudflats
