How to best view this site

For optimum viewing of our website's enhanced features, the following system configuration is recommended:
Browsers - Internet Explorer 5 or higher
Adobe Acrobat Reader - Version 4 or higher is required to view sample pages.
Screen size - 800 x 600 pixels

Adobe Acrobat files

Information sheets and educational activities have been prepared as Acrobat (pdf) files. In this format, they will open unchanged in any browser.
Click on the blue back arrow at the top left of the window to return to the web page you came from.
If a link to Barwon Bluff web page does not open from an Acrobat file, make sure that you have a browser open first.
PDF is a format that preserves all of the fonts, graphics, colours, and formatting of a document, regardless of your operating system.

Launching videoclips
Some of the shorter videoclips have been produced as Flash movies and will open in their own browser window.

Opening and 'Download Message'
If a message comes up asking if you want to 'save' or 'run' this file, choose the 'run' option. Depending on the security settings of your web browser, you may see a download message that says 'Do you want to open this file from this location...'. This message is a warning to make sure that you do not accidentally download unsafe files from the Internet. If this message appears when you are clicking a link to something on the CD-ROM, you can ignore the warning and download the file. However, if this message occurs when you have clicked a link on an Internet site, then you should only download the file if you trust the site (i.e. if it is from a respected company such as Microsoft) - see Visiting web sites.

Saving Files / Read-Only
When you save files from a CD, they will be read-only and can't be changed. There are two ways around this -

  • when you open a file from the CD, do a 'Save As' to your own computer
  • if you copy files from the CD, right mouse click on the file or folder name in Windows Explorer or My Computer. Go to 'Properties' and take off the 'Read-Only' tick.
