When rubbish ends up on the street, it is washed into our waterways and eventually into the sea after rain. Some of the most common litter items found in the sea include plastic bottles, cigarette butts and plastic bags that originate on the land. Animals can become entangled, trapped, or end up trying to ingest these items.
