Eubalaena australis - Southern Right Whales
Southern Right Whales migrate from sub-Antarctic waters to Victoria during winter in order to give birth to their young. Feeding on microscopic plankton, these large whales have many plates of baleen in their mouth, used to help strain their food from the water. This species of whale was nearly wiped out by whalers in the 19th century.
