Ascidians / Sea Squirts / Cunjevoi

This group of chordates differ from other members of their group, the vertebrate chordates, in that they do not have any form of backbone despite sharing the common feature of a distinct nerve cord in their larval phase.
Ascidians or Sea Squirts all obtain their food by siphoning water through their bodies. They range in size form tiny zooids that live together in large matrix materials to large solitary individuals such as the cunjevoi.
