Coastal Birds of the Barwon Heads Region / Marsh Harrier

Circus aeriginosus - Marsh Harrier
A small raptor often seen circling or hovering over the Bluff, the Marsh Harriers feed on small fish as well as lizards and other small animals. Their keen eyesight allows them to detect subtle movements below and the ability to hover almost motionless allows them time to carefully choose the best moment to strike.
