(left) The whole school enthusiastically celebrating
'Empire Day' 24 May 1910. The original school was located well
out of town and called Conneawre East, later it moved to a site
closer in on Geelong Road and finally to it's current site in the
early 1950's |

of the hotel in 1912. The first building on the site was the Mt. Colite
Coffee Palace, later to become a licensed hotel under the management
of Mr George Golightly. This building burnt down in 1929 and the existing
structure on the corner of Bridge Road and Ewing Blyth Drive replaced
it. |

(above left) The river bank as it was in 1930, and (above right)
as it is now in 2003. During the 40's and 50's, erosion was taking
place threatening to wash away the caravan park, so a retaining
wall was put in place.
